D-CAMP

ROOTS RUN DEEP, DNA and Blood

y Dirty and Joe Peezy grew up in a small community in the northern part of Logan County, West Virginia. This area, commonly known as "the other side of the mountain" or "LA" (Logan Area), is marked by poverty, drug issues, and a dwindling population—now down to just a few thousand—due to the decline of the coal mines. The phrase "get it out of the mud" became a literal reality for the two cousins as they navigated a challenging environment filled with violence, shootings, and a pervasive drug culture.

Many know Dobra Camp as "the land of the free," but due to its unique location, police are scarcely present. This has made it a place where anything goes, and problems often get buried—both figuratively and literally.

Three cousins began making music in the early 2000s to cope with their struggles. They honed their craft and used their voices to raise awareness about the issues facing the Black community. D-Camp is a family of artists, with its core members being Ty Dirty, Joe Peezy, Jon Knuckle, Sip, Big Land,  Deesky Weesky, Twin, and  T.
